Cheer Registration For Fall 2026 Is Open!

SBU Jr. Pioneers Cheer is excited to offer expanded opportunities for the 2026 season! With multiple program options available, families can choose the experience that best fits their athlete’s age and interest level.

We now offer:

Flag Cheer (K–1st Grade) – An introductory cheer program designed to complement our Flag Football program.
Game Day Cheer (1st–8th Grade) – Sideline cheer teams that support our football teams at home and away games, plus participate in a local showcase event.
Pop Warner Competition Cheer (Ages 8–14) – Competitive teams participating in the Pop Warner Road to Nationals program, with the opportunity to advance to Regional and National competitions.

Whether your athlete is new to cheer or ready for the competitive stage, SBU Cheer provides a positive, team-focused environment to build skills, confidence, and school spirit.

Competition Cheer registration will close June 15th to allow time for uniform ordering. More detailed practice schedules will be shared as the season approaches.

2026 Game Day Cheer

Game Day Cheer is for athletes in kindergarten through 8th grade. All athletes will cheer at home and away games.

Flag Cheer (K and 1st grade) will practice one day a week in the fall for one hour. August practices will be two-three days per week for one hour.

Game Day Cheer (1st - 8th grade) will practice two days a week in the fall. August practices are two-three days a week for one-two hours each day.

This experience teaches athletes the fundamentals of cheer (stunting techniques, tumbling, game day cheers, motions, and dance) with a focus on a game day routine.

2026 Competition Cheer

SBU's Competition cheer program is a part of the Pop Warner organization. Teams will participate in the Pop Warner Road to Nationals and cheer at football games.

The competition schedule will be announced as soon as we hear the exact dates, but the timing is as follows:

Mid-October: CJPW Local competition in Trenton

Late October/Early November: Regional competition in Trenton

November: We will participate in one local competition showcase held at a nearby high school

December: National competition held in Charlotte, NC pending qualification

*Team formation will be based on Pop Warner age requirements and the number of athletes registered. Ages 8-14 (age as of July 14, 2026 as required by Pop Warner). All athletes will also cheer at games.
